The New Kardashian Kollection Bag Line Looks Like a Lot of Other Bags

Say what you will about luxury designer handbags, but the girl shows up for work. She touched down in Sydney yesterday with sis Khloe to promote the launch of a line of Kardashian Kollection bags exclusive to Australia (the designer/entrepreneur the sisters worked with on their Sears Kollection, Bruno Schiavi, is a Sydney native). Only, maybe her head’s not all right following her filing for divorce and the entire world calling her marriage a sham, because instead of carrying Kardashian Kollection to promote her line, she was snapped carrying Balenciaga.
One of our favorite Aussie fashion writers, Frock writer, points out that one of the bags in the Kardashian Kollection handbag range is an obvious Balenciaga luxury designer handbag. Of course, it’s not the first time the Kardashians have been accused of knocking of a handbag. Monica Botkier sent a cease and desist letter to Sears after the Kardashian Kollection of luxury designer handbags of 2009 ‘Trigger Clyde’ bag.
As we took a look through the Kardashian Kollection’s Australian handbag line we noticed a lot of other heavy “inspiration.” It’s like a greatest hits collection with not so subtle nods to everyone from Celine to Chloe to Foley Corinna. And lest you think the Kardashian sisters had nothing to do with the fact that the luxury designer handbags they own look a lot like the bags in their collection, think again. “It’s our collection. I, Kourtney and Kim design the entire thing ourselves.” Khloe told PopSugar Australia. “We’re really heavily involved in the design process from start to finish,” Kim said. “And that’s why we partnered up with Bruno. We’ve had the opportunity to partner up with people before; we wanted the creative control, and he [Bruno] really gave it to us.” It sort of became a fun game to look through the luxury designer handbags and see who they were ripping off. Take a look. See any other lookalikes we left out? Tell us in the comments.
Sometimes it feels like everyone in New York City is carrying either a Proenza Schouler PS1 or a huge Chanel bag. While dropping $2,000 on a bag is an “investment” for some people, for others it’s just plain out of reach. We were convinced that there had to be fantastic, high-quality, well-designed bags out there for less than $300 (which don’t make you resort to buying luxury designer handbags. And we were right! From the high street stores to some of our favorite designers–like Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs–we found 10 bags to fit most budgets (we’re talking $300 or under here) and pretty much any style.
Luxury designer handbags are the woman behind the popular Botkier line. Starting out as a fashion photographer in NYC, Monica was always looking for the perfect handbag. After not being able to find 'the one', she sat down and created her own and the Trigger Bag was born. Monica made the bag fully functional for all her needs with three main compartments, hidden pockets, fun tassels and buckles. Celebrities soon took note of the Trigger Bag and that propelled the Botkier line into the handbag elite The Kardashians are being accused of being copy Kats. Handbag designer Monica Botkier is taking action against Sears, claiming that a handbag released as part of the sisters' Kardashian Kollection is a luxury designer handbag. Botkier alleges that bag in question, a leopard print faux leather purse with slanted pockets and draw string sides, undeniably resembles her own, pricy Trigger Clyde satchel. The designer filed a cease and desist letter against the giant retailer, which has since pulled the bag from its website, Women's Wear Daily reports.
